COMMON WEALTH GAMES 2010

The Common Wealth Games opened in New Delhi India on October 3rd with the opening ceremony held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which is the main stadium of the event.  The games are being held from the 3rd to the 14th of October 2010.

First of all, I knew nothing about these games – did you?  Often it seems we in the US  live in a different world, than the rest of the globe.

These pictures of the opening ceremony were sent to me by a friend in India.  He said that the opening ceremony was 5000 plus years of Indian civilization fast tracked in 3 hours and was simply superb.

In preparation for an influx of English-speaking tourists for the Games, the Delhi government implemented a program to teach English, and the necessary skills for serving tourists, to key workers–such as cab drivers, security workers, waiters, porters, and service staff.CWG 2010- Opening ceremony Oct. 3rd
