Even Republicans Are Slamming Mike Huckabee For His Idiotic Tweet in Support of Donald Trump.

For all the impulsive chaos of 2017, one of the most consistently occurrences has been Donald Trump’s surrogates saying asinine things in his defense. These are asinine people going to asinine lengths to try to prop up an asinine ass, so it’s perhaps not surprising. But Mike Huckabee has managed to say something so idiotic, even by his nonexistent standards, that even a number of prominent Republicans are slamming him for it.

Mike Huckabee bizarrely tried to compare the draft dodging and Nazi sympathizing Trump to revered British leader Winston Churchill, who helped win World War II and defeated the Nazis. Huckabee tweeted this: “Churchill was hated by his own party, opposition party, and press. Feared by King as reckless, and despised for his bluntness. But unlike Neville Chamberlain, he didn’t retreat. We had a Chamberlain for 8 yrs; in Donald Trump we have a Churchill.” Suffice it to say that this did not go over well with anyone outside of Trump’s shrinking and deranged base.

Republican strategist Mike Murphy responded to Huckabee by saying “This is literally the dumbest thing I’ve seen on Twitter in 2017.” Former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough, now the co-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, replied to Murphy with “That is saying a lot, but in this case, you may be right.” Neither of these two Republicans are exactly fans of Trump to begin with (and Scarborough recently announced he’s becoming a registered Independent), but this exchange shows just how utterly ridiculous Trump’s remaining apologists are – and how deeply a number of mainstream-ish Republicans are offended by it.

Mike Huckabee usually tweets a few times a day, but since his Trump/Churchill tweet several days ago, he’s gone silent. Perhaps even he realized he took the idiocy too far for his own good. Meanwhile his daughter Sarah Huckabee Sanders continues to say idiotic things on Donald Trump’s behalf, in her role as White House Press Secretary.
