President-elect Donald Trump scoff at the fact he is not taking intelligence briefings every day, telling “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace he only takes an update when there is something to update.
“I get it when I need it,” Trump told Wallace. “If something should change from this point, immediately call me. I’m available on one-minute’s notice.”
WASTE OF TIME
Trump suggested the boring briefings are a waste of presidential time amid his transition. He added his generals and Vice President-elect Mike Pence are being briefed, too.
“You know — I’m like a smart person — I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years,” Trump added.
“. . . I don’t need that. But I do say if something should change, let us know. . . . ‘Sir, nothing has changed.’ Same words. I don’t need that.”
BUSH DAILY BRIEF
On Aug. 6, 2001, President George W. Bush received a classified review of the threats posed by Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network, Al Qaeda. That morning’s “presidential daily brief” — featured the now-infamous heading: “Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S.” A few weeks later, on 9/11, Al Qaeda accomplished that goal.
I just wonder did Bush really take his “presidential daily brief” or did he feel the same way Mr. Trump does?
TOO MUCH INFORMATION
Wouldn’t it have been wiser for Donald Trump to have just let the public believe that he takes his “daily brief” instead of being so open about how he feels? Now he has the Intelligence Community angry with him and the public wondering should we sleep well at night knowing that President Trump will be on watch?
Too much information Mr. Trump – too much information!
