George and Amal Clooney have such grace – especially Amal.  George has called out Trump previously, by dismissing the Republican presidential candidate as an “opportunist” and “a xenophobic fascist”.  But during an interview with BBC Amal Clooney took on Trump in an elegant, eloquent manner – gracefully citing statistics that refute Trump’s most offensive claims while not even saying his name.

In an interview Amal was asked about the presidential election in the states to which she called “very critical, perhaps more than in any other elections that have happened for a very long time.”

She continued:

“I mean, when you listen to what the leading candidate on the Republican side has been saying about building walls, about excluding Mexicans, and saying there has to be a complete shutdown on all Muslims coming in.

If you actually look at what he specifically says in that now infamous speech about Muslims, he kept saying, “They only want jihad; they don’t believe in our way of life; they don’t respect our system.” And when he says “they”. . .And, you know, you watch the media coverage afterwards and people should’ve been saying, “Do you mean the 1.5 billion people around the world who fit that description? Do you mean the people who are U.S. citizens, who are members of your military, the vast majority of whom are not extremist or violent in any way?”

The lawyer, who recently co-hosted two fund-raisers for the Democratic Party with her husband, does think that Trump could imply something important. . . if he loses.

“If, at the end of all of this, he gets beaten by the person who becomes the first female president of the United States,” Clooney continued, “then I think that would send a very positive message from the electorate back to him as to what they really think about that point of view.”

Last month, George Clooney spoke plainly about his problem with Trump.

“Let’s put things into perspective,” Clooney told The Guardian. “[T]he truth of the matter is, in election season, things go crazy, and the loudest voices are the furthest and most extreme. So you hear a massively stupid idea, like we’re going to ban Muslims from the country. Now, we’re not ever going to do that. It says in the Statue of Liberty; bring us your huddled masses. It’s not what’s going to happen.”
