The day after the United States Senate voted down a bill that would have closed the loophole for background checks on guns, one of the most powerful and staunch suppers of gun rights from St. Louis ended his lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Adolphus Busch IV, heir to the Busch family fortune, asked the gun rights group to immediately remove his name from its roles of membership.  Guns have been a part of Busch’s life since he was a child and he called himself an avid environmentalist and hunter.  Busch stated in a 2005 interview with KSDK, “It’s something you never forget being able to be in the outdoors with your father.”

Now, this man who joined the NRA in 1975 is cutting ties.

Good common sense I say. Thank you Ms. Boulette.

  2. What loophole in background checks? We already have laws that deal with background checks, the powers that be have chosen to not enforce them. How is MORE laws and regulations on law abiding citizens going to make any difference or save any additional lives. Why not ask the Justice Department why they only prosecuted 47 cases out of 40K violations? Fix and enforce the laws you have before you impose any more regulations on we law abiding citizens. I have a right to be able to defend and protect my life and property!
