Due to the deaths of 2 dozen Pakistani soldiers, allegedly caused by a NATO airstrikes, the latest crisis in a year of crises begins along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.  The relationship seems to be in a downward slide.

In 2011, we have argued about drones, a contractor for the CIA names Raymond Davis, Osama in Laden’s Abbottsbad hidout,  the assassination of Afghan peace negotiator as well as former president Burhanuddin Rabbanni and the Taliban attack on the U.S. Embassy in Kabul in September.  In all these cases, the details were disputed but the big takeaway if clear – we do not trust each other.  Two of the 6 largest countries in the world simply have no faith in each other’s world.
