Pat Buchanan

MSNBC has a problem and its name is Pat Buchanan.  Many believe that it’s time for them to stop ignoring this situation.

The 72-year-old former Republican presidential candidate, a regular on “The McLaughlin Group” and a “Morning Joe” commentator, slams both the U.S. military’s repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and the increasing legalization of same-sex marriage in his just-released book “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive Until 2025?

Buchanan who is a paid analyst for MSNBC has been making appearances doing media for the promotion for the new book. And many believe his conduct during this publicity tour has been less than admirable.  Besides the attitude against gays, here are just another few examples of his conduct during this publicity tour:

  • Buchanan appeared on a mostly “pro-white” radio program, where he attacked America’s increasing diversity and warned that the country would face many problems when whites become a minority.
  • When pressed by a radio host to explain the warning that test scores will decline “as more and more of the children taking those tests will be African-American and Hispanic,” Buchanan refused to reject the idea that non-whites have inferior genes.
  • Buchanan argued that blacks and whites were more unified during segregation than they are today.

The prejudice on exhibit isn’t all that surprising when you consider the book being promoted.   In this book, Buchanan’s thesis is that America is “disintegrating” because “white America is an endangered species.”

MSNBC has the power to send a message that it will not endure bigotry by its employees, on or off its airwaves.
