Herman Cain, whose campaign was already fading, may have reached the tipping point. Minutes before Ginger White, 46, claimed she had a 13-year affair with Herman Cain in a televised interview, the GOP presidential hopeful appeared on CNN to shoot down the rumors. A campaign organizer accused White of being a “stalking, defaming libeler.”
Cain’s lawyer, however, offered comments that practically confirmed it: “This appears to be an accusation of private, consensual conduct between adults,” said Lin Wood. The Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz on whether Cain can survive the new round of scrutiny—especially given that Newt Gingrich is surging ahead of him in the polls.
